How do you drive traffic to your site anyway?

This is question that is always asked by most web masters. So how do you get traffic to your site?

I have been doing online marketing for at least 2 years now and I have few methods that get my websites visitors every day. But before I answer you the question, perhaps you should ask yourself what kind of audiences that you want to attract to your site. Do you want anyone or a specific people of group?

The reason I ask is, most people just want to get a general audience to their sites but it would be easier if they just target a small group of people which will interest what they are going to offer (no matter they are contents, products or services.) aren't they? So the first thing you have to clear in your mind is you don't need any traffic, you just need a small group of people that will interest your what you are going to offer on your site.

Targeted Web Traffic

To get targeted web traffic, the first thing you have to do is find out what are the trends on current searches on the Internet.

So your step 1: will Proper Keyword Research

To find the hottest trends, you just have to use a little tool called Google Trend, which shows you what are the hottest topics that are currently happening in the Internet and that is related to your site topics. Remembered we said we want to focus a small group of people instead of the general audiences because the competition is smaller than the general topics like travel, insurance etc.



For example, in your website is about golf or anything related, if you can produce a piece of contents that talks about Tiger Woods, and his affair, according Google trends, you would be getting quite an amount of traffic on Feb 19 2010 and consecutive days when he apologized for his mistakes he made.

Step 2: Build a targeted email list.

Many people overlook this issue of building their own email system that let them to send emails out time and time again. They rely on other people system or even worst buy leads from other vendors or providers. They can do that actually but it will save you tons of cost if you use a third party autoresponder services for example: Aweber that I am using over the past year and half now.

The autoresponder mainly serve three purposes:
(1): Send your promotional follow up emails automatically by the system
(2): Broadcast your emails out in a set period of dates and times
(3): Track up your open or click through of your email marketing campaigns.

Also most autoresponser providers will offer you tips on how to set up their system so that it will deliver your message automatically without you do much of the work.

Step 3: Use Social Networks to Get More Site Visitors

Twitter, Facebook, Youtube are the hottest social sites that are today. If you can find a way to snap your sites using these tools, you will be amazed how much of viral traffic you will get using these sites alone. Of course not every niche is suitable using these sites since in general speaking adults, gambling kind of sites are not acceptable.

Step 4: Article marketing

Article marketing is old but it is still very useful. All you have to do is find bunch of relevant keywords for your products or services then submit to directories such as Ezine articles, Go articles and stick a link at the signature or author bio box that you will be surprised how much traffic you can actually get by using those sites alone.
